During more than nine years of developing a sound and community, Trespassers William has established itself as a defining band in a genre which balances nuanced song-writing with rich, ethereal textures merging folk, ambient and shoegaze.
Originally hailing from southern California, the band became a presence on the music scene with their second self-released album, 'Different Stars'. With help from exposure on prominent L.A. radio station KCRW, 'Different Stars' was later released in Europe on Simon Raymonde's (of the Cocteau Twins) label Bella Union, and then later re-released worldwide on Nettwerk Records.
After moving to Seattle, the band finished their third record, Having, with renowned producer/mixer Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, Mogwai, Low, etc.).
2007 saw the band releasing the 'Noble House E.P.' and solo records from guitarist Matt Brown (Disinterested) and drummer Nathan Skolrud (Chipmunk and Horse).
2008 will find the band finishing their fourth studio album, the first solo release from singer/song-writer Anna-Lynne Williams (Lotte Kestner), bassist Ross Simonini's solo release (Rooos!) and a side project from Anna-Lynne and Ross entitled 'Tunnel-Tunnel').

"Singer Anna-Lynne Williams has one of those crystal-clear voices made up of shyness, loneliness and quiet despair, while her band dream up the kind of space country that might have sound tracked 'Twin Peaks: The Comedown Years'". -NME "
...her voice is immediately lovable and her inconsolable world-weariness completely convincing. Moving, even. Each song unfolds through a swathe of reverb and allows Anna-Lynne acres of space to express her woes with quiet dignity. File alongside Red House Painters, another band all to aware of the terrifying beauty of sadness." - Rock Sound
"If deep, breathy dreamscapes and ethereal, mournful elegance are what you seek, youll find them here. ..Tears will undoubtedly follow, of joy and despair, and an overwhelming desire to dwell in this space forevermore." -Logo Magazine "
...it makes you feel like you're listening to music for the first time. Yeah, the album 'different stars is that good...." -CitizenRobot .com
"Trespassers William draft warm songs in a cold world. Dreamy melancholy ripples across the lonely stillness of this Southern California band's psychedelic folk-pop." -M. Myers (KEXP)
About 'Having':
"Whether it was relocating to Seattle from sunny Southern California or working with producer/mixer Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev, Phantom Planet, Low, etc.), Trespassers William comes to life on its latest album. Dreamy soundscapes are still the band's hallmark, but there is an edginess and new textural complexity here that gives the songs added depth. The music is brash in its quietness. There is genuine tension between singer/songwriter Anna-Lynne Williams' soft voice and the crashing peaks of sound that emerge from the humming, buzzing ether on songs such as "I Don't Mind." Clattering, restless percussion clashes with one of the most beautiful melodies on the album on "Ledge." There is a post-modern sensibility here that splits the difference between '90s U2 and singer Suzanne Vega's more rhythmically experimental works.Quiet has never been this loud or this compelling." - The Evansville Courier Press "
...a beautifully crafted album that never succumbs to any need to provide immediate gratification. Instead, the songs on Having expand and evolve slowly, constructing an unhurried experience that proves to be meaningful and evocative. Having is an album which should be experienced in totality to allow the radiant array of sounds and imagery to wash over the listener. The members of Trespassers William have not only submitted a record that is substantive but have created an atmosphere that rewards the listener for their trust and patience." - Silent Uproar.com
"From the beginning of Safe, Sound the band pulls you in with its buzzing atmospherics and Anna-Lynne Williams poignant lyrics and beautiful echoing voice. The bands production job is also first class, varied and well-suited to each song. The drums on Ledge, the wall of sound on I Dont Mind, and the interaction of the shimmering guitars and mellifluous keyboards throughout the album make what would have been a good record a great one. Another of Havings strengths is the wonderful relationship between Williams melancholy melodies and the lush dream-pop soundscapes created by her bandmates, which feed off each other to reach emotional peaks most bands can only dream of. Just try to listen to the album without being flooded by feelings of nostalgia. Recalling at different times Frou Frou, Mazzy Star, Red House Painters, American Analog Set, and even Sigur Ros, Trespassers William have created the best album of the year so far, among the best of this decade." - Musicbeet.com
"Trespassers William's musical approach is so languorous that they seem to have slipped through a wormhole leading directly to shoegazing's halcyon days. As a result, Having sounds like something Spiritualized's Jason Pierce would use to soundtrack a dinner party hosted by Brian Eno. Haunting and hypnotic stuff forged through absolute commitment and conviction."-Rhapsody.com
"Epic musical soundscapes mixed with the beautiful voice of Anna-Lynne Williams make for one of the most relaxing, after lights-out experiences since Sigur Ros ( ) ...How Ive managed to let trespassers william escape through my musical net is beyond me this is a masterpiece, and given the right exposure they could do a Sigur Ros on us and become the next big underground success." -Sominty.com
"With Having, TW reestablish themselves as songwriters and musicians of the highest calibre. While the trio have retained their signature style, the songs on Having display a heightened assuredness, maturity and willingness to explore the bounds of sonic nuance." -Musical Discoveries.com
"This time the band have struck up a winning collaboration with revered produced Dave Fridmann (Mercury Rev, Mogwai, Flaming Lips) and the results are undeniably powerful. Distilling all the classic verve of the shoegazer era and adding a taste of their own talents (gorgeous female vocals, measured songwriting) to create something which sounds irresistible. Destined to appeal to fans of Slowdive, The Cocteau Twins and Mazzy Star, this is classic indie music of the highest order, a welcome suprise..." -Boomkat.com
